Wicomico Sheriff's Deputy Killed Attempting to Make Arrest

Deputy First Class Glenn Hilliard, a Wicomico County sheriff's deputy was killed on the night of Sunday, June 12, attempting to arrest a fugitive in Pittsville, Maryland.
Hilliard identified the felony suspect who was known to be wanted on multiple warrants. The encounter occurred at Talbot Apartments in Pittsville. Hilliard was shot trying to arrest the suspect (Austin Davidson).
“After an extensive manhunt by dozens of law enforcement officers from throughout the region, the suspect was captured and is awaiting arraignment," the sheriff's office stated.
Hilliard was 41 years old and was a 16-year law enforcement veteran. “The days ahead will be challenging, but for now, we are mourning the loss of an incredible human being," the sheriff's office news release said. “Deputy Glenn Hilliard was a son, a husband and a father to three beautiful children, a brother to those he worked with, and an exemplary public servant."
